Studying in Europe

You’ve never lived in Europe, but you’re planning to study there.

Culture shock can happen as soon as there’s a border between two countries!

Do you have questions about what it’s like being an expat in Europe? Do you wonder whether there may be things to look out for from a personal, cultural, or logistics perspective?

Sometimes, it’s the teeny tiny things that make the difference between a great experience living and studying abroad and a draining one.

I’ve lived, studied, and worked in a number of different countries in Europe, as well as the United States. I’m very happy to share the insights I’ve gained from my very international upbringing and educational and professional experiences.

For example, you can ask me what it’s like:

  • Studying and working in the STEM subjects in Europe.
  • Doing research in Switzerland, France, Denmark, and Germany.
  • Living as an expat in Europe.
  • Dealing with culture shock.
  • Traveling within Europe.

DISCLAIMER

If you book a meeting, you automatically agree to the following:

  • The meetings you can book here are one-on-one meetings. The price is per student. Direct guardians are welcome to join. For group sessions, contact the host for a price offer before booking. If others wish to join the same meeting after you have already booked a spot, contact the host for a price offer for the additional invitees as long as the meeting date is 5 business days (M-F) away.

  • Video and audio recordings of the meetings are not allowed. Recordings of the meetings cannot be posted on any social media platforms.

  • The meeting cannot focus on confidential information about current or previous employers and clients.

  • The meeting is for your personal educational purposes and to help you gain a better overview of what to expect during your studies abroad. Given that some countries like Germany are highly regulated, here’s an additional disclaimer: this is not a ‘coaching’ session in the strict sense of the word, and the host is not certified with any governmental organization as a ‘career coach.’

  • The meeting booking is non-refundable. Exceptions can be made for extreme circumstances, such as death and victim of war or natural disasters. Contact and discuss with the host if you need to cancel or move the meeting. Don’t lie, be honest. The host is here to help you, not work against you.

  • A valid LinkedIn, institute profile page, and/or personal website URL with verifiable information is requested and required during the booking. This is to allow the host to verify that you are a real and honest person. If your identity cannot be verified by the host (i.e., you may be fraud or AI), the meeting will be cancelled by the host, and your payment will be partially refunded as described below. The information you submit will only be used to verify your identity and help the host prepare for your meeting.

  • During the meeting, the host requires that video to be always on and prohibits AI-driven distorsions of the communication (e.g. avatars, etc.). This is a human-to-human call aimed at helping YOU in your educational and professional journey.

  • The host reserves the right to terminate an ongoing meeting if any of the above-mentioned conditions are not respected. Ongoing meetings will not be refunded.

  • Refunds, if approved, will be the full paid amount minus fees paid to the transaction-handling intermediary company. The VAT amount (19%) also cannot be refunded if the refund is requested and approved during a different fiscal quarter as the one during which payment was submitted (e.g. payment in March, refund in April).
